Name: Brandon
Age: 8
State: KY

Before he was even born, Brandon’s doctors told his mother that he would have a condition called bladder exstrophy, in which part of his bladder was actually on the outside of his body. Immediately after his birth, he was taken into an 8-hour surgery to put his bladder back into his abdominal cavity. After he was finally home, little Brandon contracted a bladder infection and was taken back to the hospital for a few months. At only one-and-a-half, Brandon had another surgery and has had numerous surgeries since to correct the many issues his condition causes including kidney reflux, which causes consistent bladder infections. As he gets older, Brandon will continue to need more surgeries for his condition.
For his wish, Brandon wanted a swimming pool of his very own, which didn’t surprise his mother: “He’s always wanted a pool,” said Brandon’s mom. “So one year we got him an inexpensive above ground pool that he loved, but last year the pump gave out and his summer was cut short…whenever he has a surgery, his first question to the doctor is ‘can I go swimming?’
And, now that he has his new pool, Brandon just loves it and simply can’t wait for summer to head his way!
