It’s no secret that I love reading. I’ll read anywhere and there’s always a book in my purse or somewhere close at hand. As much as I love writing, I think I enjoy reading just a teensy bit more. This is why I was so excited to find out that award winning children’s book author Susan Carnes has decided to help out here at Kids Wish Network!
No, she’s not volunteering in the building or anything – as she’s on the other side of the country – but she has donated 500 copies of her beautiful book My Champion for us to give out to the kids served by our Holiday of Hope gift bank program! Not only that, but she’s even made a special deal for when people purchase her lovely book from her website at www.skcarnes.wordpress.com/buy-book-or-cd, $2 of every book sold will go directly to Kids Wish! Isn’t that exciting?! I definitely think so!
Another reason to get excited about all this is the book itself. First off, My Champion is a Moonbeam Spirit Award winner and you simply can’t go wrong with that! Also, when I first saw the book’s lovely cover of a girl and her work horse companion, I was mesmerized by the flowing colors and watery environment. I’d never seen pictures like that before! The pictures drew me in and the story kept me reading. The main characters, a little girl named Tess and her work horse pal Star, are strong characters with bright personalities and I think any child would love to read about their adventures together; I know I loved reading about them and I’m not even a kid anymore…well, only at heart! And heart is what this beautiful story has quite an abundance of.
Susan Carnes’ My Champion is a wonderful book any child or child-at-heart to enjoy. Go on and visit www.skcarnes.wordpress.com/buy-book-or-cd and get a copy for yourself or a loved one. Don’t forget that $2 of every purchase goes toward furthering Kids Wish Network’s mission of improving the quality of life for children nationwide. You really shouldn’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to pick up a copy and change the life of a child in crisis at the same time – it’s a win-win situation!
