After years of headaches and dizzy spells, 12-year-old Amanda was diagnosed with Chiari malformation and syringomyelia. This is an illness in which her brain intrudes on the spinal column causing extreme pressure to build on her spine. Amanda has fluid-filled cavities in her spinal column, which increases the pressure on her nerves. She has undergone various medical procedures and surgeries and has to be closely monitored.
Amanda’s wish of meeting her favorite country star, Dolly Parton, came true! Amanda spent time chatting with Dolly and they took tons of pictures together. Amanda’s dad said he could really tell that Amanda and Dolly bonded and Dolly even told Amanda that she loved her! Amanda enjoyed all the fun of her wish trip, including her stay at The Inn at Christmas Place and the Black Bear Jamboree!
