Kids Wish Network Granted Rusty’s Wish for a New Computer
A little kindness can go a long way. A lot of kindness can change lives.
Thanks to the generosity of a few local Thomaston, Georgia businesses and organizations, Kids Wish Network was able to fulfill the wish of a young teen with a life-threatening
Rusty is 14-years-old and struggles to live a normal life each day. He suffers from hydrocephalus, hypothyroidism, spastic cerebral palsy, and autism. He is also missing a portion of his brain and has a compromised immune system. Rusty is confined to a wheelchair and is legally blind.
When Kids Wish Network received an application for Rusty, his wish funding specialist, Donna, began canvassing Rusty’s home town looking for sponsors. That’s when she came across the Georgia State VFW, First United Methodist Church and Express Employment Professionals, and received donations to make Rusty’s wish for a desktop computer come true.
“Al Spears, the Quartermaster with The Georgia State VFW is someone I can always count on to help our Georgia kids,” Donna said. “As a whole, the business community, organizations and churches in Georgia are very gracious and receptive to the needs of the children in their area.”
Kids Wish Network arranged for Rusty to arrive by limousine at the local Wal-Mart to get a brand new Dell desktop computer. Wal-Mart went above and beyond and had a party waiting for Rusty, complete with a cake and a bubble machine. A few extras were also thrown in for Rusty to enjoy: a new stereo system and a computer desk for Rusty to work at.
It is people like the Rusty’s wish sponsors who help Kids Wish Network make dreams come true for thousands of children each and every year. Without the gracious and selfless donations from kind individuals, Kids Wish Network would not be able to do what they do.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Rusty’s wish extra special: Georgia State VFW, First United Methodist Church, Express Employment Professionals, Wal-Mart Supercenter Store #1112, A Courtesy Limousine, and Mahar Manufacturing.
