Kids Wish Network is a national charity dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories and improving the quality of life for children. The charity has a variety of programs that target sick children, one of them being granting wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Allie’s mother, Lorrie, referred her daughter to Kids Wish Network after seeing her struggle with an array of life-threatening conditions including Crohn’s Disease, POTS, Hypermobility Syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Migraine Overlay. Allie receives infusions every five weeks and takes over 20 medications each day to help maintain her incurable ailments. She endures a lot of pain, doctors’ visits and hospital stays, things no child should have to go through.
“I work for a hospital and seeing Allie go through so much and thinking she has been through a lot I put the referral in,” Lorrie said.
“Allie just wanted a vacation to, in her words, ‘get away from it all,'” Lorrie said. “She loved feeding the dolphins at Sea World and seeing fireworks at the park.”
Along with the tickets to the theme parks, Kids Wish Network arranged round-trip flights, hotel accommodations at the luxurious Royal Plaza Hotel, spending money, attraction tickets and some dinner arrangements for Allie and her parents.
Lorrie said the trip was awesome and just what the family needed.
“Just spending time, all three of us away, and seeing something totally new was great. No phone calls, no bothers, no computers or anything,” she said. “I’m definitely going to tell people about Kids Wish Network. You guys are just a wonderful organization.”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Allie’s wish extra special: Loyal Order of Moose #490, Willoughby VFW Post #1500, Madison VFW Post #8548, Dollar Thrifty Automotive, Royal Plaza Hotel, California Pizza Kitchen, Pirates Dinner Theater, Wonderworks
