Sarah is a 4-year old girl diagnosed with Hearing Impairment and Developmental Delay. She has been receiving physical, occupational and speech therapy and has made tremendous progress over the last 6 months. When she first began her therapies, Sarah was very uncoordinated and unaware of her body was in space. She also fatigued quickly and had a difficult time tolerating more than 2 disciplines at a time. Initially, Sarah had minimal verbal production, relying on signs for the majority of her communication; now her working vocabulary has increased and she is able to put words together to communicate her thoughts. She is now more coordinated, falls less and her endurance has increased so that she is able to tolerate an hour of therapy, twice a week. In addition, she is working on problem solving and visual perceptual skills as well as increasing her motor planning, body awareness, and processing sensory input. She works tirelessly and is lucky to have a very dedicated mother who incorporates her therapy into their daily routines to ensure Sarah improves a little each day!
