Samantha’s life changed dramatically when she was diagnosed with a condition known as common variable immunodeficiency, which makes her susceptible to recurring infections that her body is not equipped to fight. In addition, Samantha has thrombosis, which causes her to develop frequent and life-threatening blood clots. During her battle with her complex medical anomalies, Samantha also developed Guillian-Barre, an acute illness that causes inflammation of the nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord. Samantha has been hospitalized numerous times and has also endured painful plasma infusions that caused her stomach to split open. Samantha’s condition is very serious and she must be monitored carefully by her doctors.

Samantha loves to sing and her idol is singer, actress and Broadway star, Idina Menzel. For her wish, Samantha wanted to meet her hero. Idina’s latest screen performance was in the Disney movie “Enchanted,” and Samantha was invited to join Ms. Menzel on the red carpet during the premiere for the movie. The day before the premiere, Samantha got to meet up with Idina at a restaurant and the two shared a wonderful time. Samantha even got the chance to sing for her idol! At the premiere of “Enchanted,” Samantha walked the red carpet like a pro and even got to enjoy a full Hollywood makeover prior to the event. On the red carpet, she met up with Idina Menzel again, who greeted her like an old friend and introduced her to the stars of the movie, Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey. Talk about a night to make you starry-eyed!
