Perla Sanchez is 11-years-old and suffered a massive stroke in December. Since then, Perla has made extraordinary progress. After spending a month in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, her family wondered if she would ever walk, laugh, speak or play again. In the past month and a half, Perla’s perseverance has amazed the staff and her family alike. Today, Perla is walking with a walker to all of her therapies, talking, and doing math problems. She has been known to get out of her bed and dance a little for her family! Some of her favorite activities include art projects in the playroom, evening programs and going to the pool for Physical Therapy. Perla has an extremely supportive family that has been with her every step of the way during her rehabilitation. Perla certainly deserves to be called a hero for coming so far in such little time.
