State: Grand Forks, ND
Facility: Altru Hospital
Onalee is a five year old patient that was admitted with orbital cellulitis and high temperatures. She was very nervous about coming to the hospital from the clinic thinking she would be “put to sleep”. After reassurance and some diversion activities, she was able to calm her initial fears. Onalee was very disappointed that her IV was in her right hand and for the first day she was not able to do her favorite activity – coloring. Onalee wanted to know as much about hospital events as she could before and while they were happening. She was very brave with everything she encountered. Onalee was always sweet, polite, cooperative, and inquisitive no matter how terrible she felt while she was here.
