The staff has known and adored 17-year-old Peter for the past seven years. His diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy has significantly affected his motor gross skills, resulting in Peter being non-ambulatory and wheelchair dependent. At one time, he was able to take a few steps at a time, but eventually, his muscles atrophied. At this time, he is completely dependent on his wheelchair and can not even attempt walking. However, his physical disability does not stop him from pursuing his goals and dreams. Peter – a National Honor Society Student and Committee for Disabilities Advisory Member – is currently applying to college. He is passionate about music and dram and has even performed in numerous musical productions. The staff is also impressed with his enthusiasm for wheelchair racing! Peter is truly and inspirational HERO!
