State: Dallas, TX
Facility: Medical City Children’s Hospital
Before his admission, Jonathan had never been inside a hospital. While at school, Jonathan had a seizure. Jonathan spent a few days in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit fighting for his life. After a quick recovery, many tests and medicines, Jonathan was transferred to the general pediatric floor. All of the staff could not stop talking about how “sweet” and polite this teenage boy was. He always had a smile on his face and was cooperative and patient with the unknowingness of his diagnosis. He had a couple of more seizures while on the floor without any explanation. Throughout it all, Jonathan showed much bravery and calmness while dealing with this issue. Jonathan is being sent home with a long term antibiotic and a greater understanding of what it means to be brave. He is very deserving of this honor.
