Taylor was diagnosed with Hurler’s syndrome when he was just seven months old. Hurler’s syndrome is a rare hereditary and congenital disease and results from the body’s inability to break down long chains of sugar molecules called glycosaminoglycans. Complications from the disease include cardiac abnormalities and organ damage. Taylor has already had two bone marrow transplants. He also experiences difficulty with his mobility at times and requires a wheelchair for distance.
Spending an afternoon shopping to his heart’s content at Best Buy sounded like perfect ‘retail therapy’ to Taylor! The biggest purchase of his special wish day? A Playstation 3! In addition, he picked out games and accessories for the system. Taylor’s mom, Shirley, said the day meant the world to him. “He just couldn’t wrap his head around it all. He kept looking at me like ‘Wow!’ He’s so very happy!”
