In October of last year, Joseph was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal angiofibroma. This condition results in a locally aggressive vascular head and neck tumor in juveniles. For Joseph, this tumor started in his head and traveled down to his nasal cavity. He has dealt with the pain of surgery to remove the tumor as well as various check-up and follow-up visits to the doctor. Later this year, Joseph will have to go in for another surgery to insert tubes in his ears to help him cope with his hearing loss, which is a less common symptom of the tumor.
From the start, Joseph had a blast when Classic Thunder Limos came to pick him up from his house in a rare red limousine and take him to the local Farm King. When he arrived, he hardly knew where to start. He grabbed all the ‘outdoorsy’ goodies he could ever want, including a coat, coveralls, a deluxe animal call, and many other things that any little boy would love to have.
When he was finally done shopping, the day ended fantastically with dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings and a final limo ride home. Joseph was truly the star on his big day of shopping and the entire experience, for him, was “real fun!” So far, his favorite item is the deluxe animal “holler” that electronically emits all sorts of different animal calls; He loves to listen to the different sounds that they make. Truly, Joseph’s day at Farm King was a dream come true.
