John was born with Kabuki Syndrome and CHARGE Syndrome, which are both genetic disorders that present with various problems, some of which include a cleft palate, ocular difficulties, heart defects and kidney problems. Because of these disorders, John was kept in the hospital for 2 and ½ months after his birth. During that time, he endured three surgeries: a surgery to insert a feeding tube into his stomach, kidney surgery and another stomach surgery. In addition, John also has asthma, for which he receives daily breathing treatments, and he sometimes suffers seizures. Because of his condition, John must be cared for by a full-time nurse and must rely on a cart, wheelchair or stroller for mobility, although he is just now learning to crawl on his belly.
John wished to have fun like any other kid at the theme parks in Orlando, Florida. While he was there, he got to ride plenty of rides, meet his favorite characters and watch lots of bright, colorful shows. In other words, the 3-year-old had a blast!
