When Briggs was five, his parents noticed that he was regressing in many ways. He was eventually diagnosed with childhood disintegrative disorder. CDD is considered to be a central nervous system pathology and is very rare. The disorder occurs after a child has already begun to develop normally and then begins to regress, losing speech and other developmental functions over a period of time. There is no cure for CDD.
With his love of marine life, Briggs was thrilled to meet a dolphin up close. During his swim, he made a new friend: Leo, the bottlenose dolphin! He even got the chance to kiss a sea lion, pet a shark and watch some shows starring his favorite aquatic mammals!
