In 2007, Gildiana was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a rapidly growing brain tumor. Despite the valiant efforts of a medical team who aggressively treated Gildiana with several surgeries and chemotherapy, her tumor has returned and the cancer has spread to her spine. Having exhausted all options, they have ceased treatment at this time.
Gildiana really enjoyed being a princess for a day. In a white gown complete with a headdress fit for a queen, Gildiana made her royal way to the local Wal-Mart in a horse-drawn carriage complete with a police escort. Her wish was a simple shopping spree and it turned into a magical outing for everyone involved. Gildiana’s day was her wish come true.
