Brittney is a sweet, caring, and loving 3-year old girl. What appeared initially as a really bad cold turned into a long stay in the PICU, an intubation, and two chest tubes. She has been in the hospital and in bed for almost two weeks. Since the extubation, Brittney has had to undergo regular chest percussion therapy and treatments to help with her empyema. Even after 2 weeks of treatment, she is not responding as quickly as the staff would have hoped. She still has fluid in her lung and a partial collapse. She has had to undergo many tests and therapies to get where she is today. She has been a real trooper and has never put up a fight. She even takes her medication without a problem! She has an amazingly supportive family and they have never left her bedside. She enjoys: singing, dancing, playing with friends, coloring, and watching ‘Dora’. Her favorite phrase is, “Jesus loves you so much”. You can often find her praying for everyone she loves. It’s no surprise that her favorite song is “Jesus Loves Me”. Brittney’s upbeat spirit and big smile make her Kaiser Permanente – Roseville’s HERO OF THE MONTH.
