Back in November of 2003, Ashley was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Lyme disease is a multisystematic inflammatory disease that spreads to the joints, nervous system and other major organs. It commonly leads to cardiac inflammation, severe joint pain and chronic fatigue. The disease can be extremely serious and difficult to treat. It also adversely affects the immune system so Ashley’s body has an extremely difficult time fighting infections. She has undergone rigorous antibiotic treatments and has had to have homebound schooling due to chronic fatigue and other complications.
Ashley’s dream trip to New York included guided tours of the city and of the MTV studios, a shopping spree to Abercrombie & Fitch, makeovers at Bloomingdale’s, a trip to see the Rockettes at the Radio City Music Hall, seats at the Broadway production of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” and meals at some of New York’s top restaurants!
The highlight for Ashley was the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. She also really enjoyed the shopping and the restaurants. Upon returning home, Ashley told her mother, “Momma, I’ve never had so much fun.” It was the perfect trip.
