It’s started off as a busy week for me here at Kids Wish Network. We recently had quite a few wish kids go on their wishes and that means press release time! I am currently working on a handful of press releases that I will write and try my best to get them published in a local newspaper or media outlet. I have a few stories about children with life-threatening illnesses who went on their wishes and I have a few about our Hero of the Month children who received their awards.
Kids Wish Network has two different wish granting programs. The first is our wish granting program for children with life-threatening illnesses. Those are usually the stories about the kids going on trips to theme parks, meeting a celebrity, getting a new computer or game system or traveling to a place they’ve always wanted to go. We also have the wish granting program for children who do not have a life-threatening illness, but have overcome something tragic or very difficult and have shown great courage and strength. These press releases are called our Hero stories, as the child was awarded Hero of the Month for their hospital or facility. The heroes get a t-shirt, certificate, medal of honor, and a gift card valued between $200 and $500 depending on the child’s age.
Both programs offer great benefits to our wish kids. The children receive recognition, enjoyment, and have a great memory that they can cherish forever. I like doing the press releases about the wish kids here at Kids Wish Network. I really want to see their story in a newspaper because I know that they will see it, too. It will be another reminder and memento for the child to keep and remember their wish for years to come!
