Amanda is a sweet, shy teenager. She likes to play card games and watching the TV shows “Glee” and “American Idol.” Amanda enjoys spending time with her friends. She likes to go bowling and watch movies such as “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” Amanda hopes to one day be a pharmacist, so it is no surprise that her best subject in school is calculus.
In March of 2009, Amanda was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes. She went through four rounds of chemotherapy which lasted about three weeks per round. Amanda had various blood transfusions and had to be put on many antibiotics. The medications and treatments which Amanda was given made her very sick, which led to her having to be home schooled. Because of this, Amanda missed the last semester of her senior year in high school. She became very ill prior to her senior prom, but managed to make it to the dance where she was crowned prom queen.
While talking to a wish coordinator, Amanda said that she absolutely adores the TV show “Glee,” and is proud to call herself a “gleek!” Amanda thinks that Lea Michele, who plays the character Rachel on the show, is an amazing talent and loves the way the whole cast blends together. Her one wish is to meet the cast and spend some time getting to know them. Hope you’re ready to have a gleeful time, Amanda, because you are getting your wish!
