Dylan was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance after flipping over the handlebars of his dirtbike. After having surgery to both arms he was brought the Pediatrics in anticipation of going home shortly afterwards. In the recovery room after surgery Dylan needed numerous doses of IV pain medication so it was concluded that he spend the night in Pediatrics for pain control. From the moment Dylan was admitted he had an amazing attitude. With both arms in splints and slings he found it difficult to even do the simple tasks such as itch his nose. But that did not discourage him. When I, his nurse, mentioned that he was fortunate that school was out because he couldn’t write he jokingly stated that maybe he could learn to write with his feet. With weeks of recovery ahead of him I am sure that Dylan will make the best of a challenging situation and will lean to readjust and that his attitude toward life will be an inspiration to others.
