Gabby’s Disney Wish Comes True

LOS ALAMOS, N.M. – A little girl with a life-threatening illness has all of her magical wishes come true when she visits Disneyland with a little help from Kids Wish Network.

At the age of one, Gabby was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, which causes her kidneys to leak large amounts of protein from the body daily. This condition causes many complications, including the weakening of her immune system. She is on a strict daily medication regimen and she must limit her exposure to germs in order to avoid more complications.

It was a preschool teacher of Gabby’s who first told Gabby’s mother, Christina, about children’s charity Kids Wish Network. Once in contact with the organization, Christina was excited to learn that her daughter qualified for a wish of her own.

Wish Coordinator Jennifer was the one who found out that Gabby wanted nothing more than a fabulous vacation to California and to visit Disneyland with her family, but Jennifer was able to arrange so much more.

After enlisting the help of Kids Wish Network’s Wish Funding Specialist Doris, together they found sponsors who could really help to make Gabby’s trip an unforgettable family experience. Jennifer arranged for Gabby and her family to visit Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure and Universal Studios. She even organized some special dinners for them at The Elephant Bar and Jillian’s at City Walk!

“Jen did a wonderful job,” said Christina. “Gabby really felt special.”

At Disney, Gabby truly had the time of her young life. Some particular favorites of Gabby’s were riding “Splash Mountain” three times, meeting Tinker Bell and her fairy friends in Pixie Hollow and watching the Country Bears show! She even met Mickey Mouse and informed him that she had been waiting her whole life just to meet him. Gabby was simply enthralled.

At Universal Studios, Gabby just adored meeting one of her favorite storybook characters, Curious George. She even took pictures with her favorite monkey and held his hand as she was entering the park.

Gabby didn’t have a single care in the world during her wish trip, and that’s just what Jennifer and everyone at Kids Wish Network wanted for her.

“Thank you for making her wish come true,” said Christina “It was great!”

Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Gabby’s wish extra special: Disneyland Compassion Program, The Holiday Inn-La Mirada, Universal Studios Hollywood, Elephant Bar Restaurant, Jillian’s, Santa Fe Elks Lodge 460, American Legion Post 90, White Rock United Methodist Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Tomasita’s Restaurant, Los Alamos Public Safety Association and Zia Credit Union.
