NEW LONDON, Ohio – A little boy with a life-threatening illness has the wish of his life with Kids Wish Network.
Wishes do come true, and that’s exactly what happened to seven-year-old Luke. He could think of only one thing that he wanted most when asked to wish for anything and that was to visit Walt Disney World in Florida. Through the work of Kids Wish Network and many dedicated sponsors, Luke’s wish soon crossed into the realm of reality.
One phone call was all it took when Luke’s mother, Bethany, was contacted by a Kids Wish Network professional fundraiser. It wasn’t long after the initial call that Luke was talking to his very own personal Wish Coordinator, named Jill. She assured him that she could make his wish come true and, with the help of Wish Funding Specialist, Doris, and some fantastic sponsors, that is exactly what happened.
When the time came for Luke’s wish to be granted, he and his family were flown to Orlando and given a bevy of theme park tickets to fill their days with all the attractions, sights and sounds that they could handle. “It was really great,” said Bethany. “Luke had a great time!”
While in Florida, Luke, his parents and his little sister enjoyed all the fun to be had at Busch Gardens, WonderWorks, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios! Luke rode on a train, went on a safari to the darkest heart of Africa, journeyed under the sea to visit the Little Mermaid, helped to find Nemo and even experienced the wrath of an earthquake and a hurricane all in the span of a few days! “It was all really interesting and we rode just about everything they [Luke and his little sister] wanted to,” said Bethany.
Even the dinners were fantastic for the little boy and his family. Every night, Jill had arranged dinner at a different restaurant. One of them even celebrated Luke’s arrival with a Mickey Mouse cake!
On the family’s final night in Florida, Luke got to experience the thrill of high-seas excitement at the Pirates Dinner Adventure! “He really enjoyed that,” said his mom.
Now that they’re all home, Luke and his family are doing well and are having a great time sorting through the hundreds of awesome pictures they took while enjoying Luke’s magical wish. Nothing could have made Luke any happier and that’s all that Jill and everyone else at Kids Wish Network could have wanted.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Luke’s wish extra special: Fraternal Order of Eagles Firelands Aerie #2869, Sutton Bank, Wakeman Eagles Redcaps, Women of the Moose #239, Moose Lodge #1248, Norwalk American Legion Post 41, Compassion Partners, Pirates Dinner Adventure, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Garden Grove Restaurant, Regal Sun Resort and WonderWorks.
