CANTON, Mich.- A little boy with a life-threatening illness has the wish of his life with Kids Wish Network.
Ten-year-old Eric is definitely a “people person.” He loves to smile and show off his happiness and everyone just adores being around such a bright child. Eric is also quite a sports fan and really enjoys watching his favorite team, the Detroit Lions, on television.
Eric was born with a neural tube defect called spina bifida that occurs when the spinal column fails to close completely, resulting in spinal cord nerve damage. The condition has left Eric confined to a wheelchair. In addition, he has hydrocephalus, which causes fluid to build up around his brain. He has had to endure a procedure to relieve the pressure in his skull caused by excess fluid, in addition to a few other major surgeries he must soon undergo. Eric also suffers from chiari malformation, a neurological condition that causes compression of the spinal cord and brainstem at the base of the skull.
After being referred to Kids Wish Network through his grandparents, Eric made his one wish known to Wish Coordinator, Vanessa: to visit Walt Disney World in Florida. Along with the assistance of Wish Funding Specialist, Megan, and some outstanding sponsors, Vanessa worked her magic and set up an awesome family getaway for Eric and his family. This fabulous vacation included a stay at Celebrity Resorts Orlando, dinner at the Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater and, of course, tickets to the Walt Disney World Resort and all of the other major Orlando theme parks!
Once in Orlando, Eric and his family enjoyed a real action-packed vacation; their itinerary was booked with fantastic activities and awesome places to visit. Even their dinners were planned out! Kids Wish Network thought of everything and Eric had the time of his life on his wish trip.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Eric’s wish extra special: Westland Moose Lodge, Frankfort Lions Club, Graceland Fruit, Inc., Compassion Partners, Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater, Celebrity Resorts, Houlihan’s, WonderWorks, Cici’s Pizza and the Sheraton Suites Galleria of Atlanta.
