CANON, Ga.- A little boy with a life-threatening illness has the wish of his life with Kids Wish Network.
Ten-year-old Dawson is a happy-go-lucky little guy who is absolutely crazy about country music. He especially loves listening to his all-time favorite country singer, Carrie Underwood. A typical little boy in many ways, Dawson most enjoys playing games on his Wii, reading and singing. His favorite television show is Family Feud and his favorite baseball team is the Atlanta Braves!
Dawson was born with spina bifida, a neural tube defect that occurs when the spinal column fails to close completely. Dawson has already had over 50 surgeries in his young life with perhaps even more in the future. In addition, he has hydrocephalus, which causes fluid to build up around the brain. Dawson is wheelchair dependent and has developmental delays.
After learning about Kids Wish Network through a newspaper article, Dawson’s mother gave them a call. It wasn’t long before little Dawson made his one wish known to Wish Coordinator, Vanessa: to visit Walt Disney World in Florida. Along with the assistance of Wish Funding Specialist, Donna, and some outstanding sponsors, Vanessa worked her magic and set up an awesome family getaway for Dawson and his family. This fabulous vacation included a stay at The Royal Plaza Hotel, dinner at the Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater and, of course, tickets to the Walt Disney World Resort and all of the other major Orlando theme parks!
Once in Orlando, Dawson and his family enjoyed a real action-packed vacation; their itinerary was booked with fantastic activities and awesome places to visit. Even their dinners were planned out! Kids Wish Network thought of everything and Dawson had the time of his young life on his wish trip.
