Trisha’s Orlando Adventure with Kids Wish Network

Coshocton, OH – A local girl with chronic kidney disease travels to Florida for a few days of adventure with a little help from Kids Wish Network.

Sixteen-year-old Trisha is an amazingly dynamic young woman. She is involved in many different activities at her high school and outside of it, including the National Honor Society, B.P.A. and going to the local Career Center. Trisha is also a very active 4-H club member! Of course, this is just in her hometown; now it was her chance to get out and explore a corner of the U.S. where she had never been before. Look out Florida, here is Trisha!

In the sixth grade, Trisha was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. It was then that her doctors determined that her kidneys were not completely formed before birth. Due to her condition, she is on a daily medication regimen to reduce the chances of her needing dialysis, even though she has already had to endure bladder reconstruction surgery. Every six months, Trisha has to travel to the hospital for more tests and is on a special diet to ensure optimal kidney performance.

After being contacted by a Kids Wish Network professional fundraiser, Trisha’s mother, Sherry, inquired about the requirements to have a wish granted and found out that her daughter qualified. Here was her chance to give something back to her brave and bright daughter; it wasn’t long before Trisha was talking to her own Wish Coordinator, named Jill. It was Jill who found out that Trisha’s number one wish was to visit the “world within a state” of Orlando, Florida and she worked tirelessly to make sure that Trisha’s journey was unforgettable. In addition to tickets to the top theme parks in Orlando, Jill arranged to have Trisha and her family stay in the famous Royal Plaza Hotel and have dinner at the Pirates Dinner Adventure!

“It was such an exciting time!” said Trisha’s mother, Sherry. “We had a good time with everything we did.” Trisha and her family spent their time in Orlando soaking up the bright atmosphere at various theme parks, including Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. There, Trisha got to experience firsthand the magic of a Disney parade where the whole family just “loved the lights.” Though her mother did not enjoy the ride quite as much as Trisha, they had a great time on the “Expedition Everest” rollercoaster at Animal Kingdom.

At Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure, Trisha was thrilled to ride the “Incredible Hulk” and “Spiderman” rides; she even got to take her picture with Spiderman! “She enjoyed everything,” said her mother.

Since her return to Ohio, Trisha has a bit of a vacation left, as her school is closed because of snow; she’s still waiting to get back to class to show all of her friends her pictures from her wish trip to Florida. “It was a nice trip. Jill did great!” said Trisha’s mother. “We appreciate everything Kids Wish Network did for us.” Kids Wish Network was more than happy to grant the wish of such a bright young lady.

Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Trisha’s wish extra special: Coshocton Lodge 935 Loyal Order of Moose, Buckeye Beemers, Ohio Fabricators Company, Compassion Partners, Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater, Dollar Rent-A-Car, Royal Plaza Hotel, WonderWorks, Romano’s Macaroni Grill and Lone Star Steakhouse.
