Rochester, MI – A young lady who suffered through multiple traumas finally gets the chance to visit the set of her favorite television series.
In December of 2006, Katie was involved in a very serious plane crash that took the life of her father. She suffered multiple traumatic injuries; she broke both of her arms and legs and her pelvis. For two months after the accident, Katie was completely bedridden. She has also endured a number of surgeries with another one likely in the near future. Katie has been through a great deal over the last year and has had to learn how to walk again. She must be monitored carefully by her doctors.
Katie was referred to Kids Wish Network through someone at her church. Having proclaimed herself as “obsessed” with the television show, “Desperate Housewives,” it was no surprise that Katie made her wish known to visit the set out in California.
Once there, Katie had the chance to be a typical California tourist with a tour of the houses of various celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Paris Hilton, Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, Eva Longoria and Courtney Cox. Katie even got to visit Universal Studios and the Hollywood Wax Museum. Not only did she get to enjoy the sights, but she also got to be treated like a star, herself, by attending a movie premiere.
The highlight of Katie’s trip, however, was the visit to “Wisteria Lane.” There, she got to meet some of the cast, including Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Kyle McLaughlin, Neal McDonough, James Denton and Ricardo Antonio Chavira. “Talking with the guys was awesome. They were really cool.” According to Katie, Ricardo (Carlos) and Kyle McLaughlin were great. Kyle was so funny, showing them the behind-the-scenes kitchen. She said that there was so much food on the set and the actors were having fun and laughing, even the people working there were happy. When she first got there, they went inside one of the houses then out the back door and when they were going back to the street, like 10 characters were in the back yard. The guys were talking about cars, Eva popped out her trailer, it was so weird. “My jaw dropped,” Katie said.
Katie had a truly wonderful trip and she thanks Kids Wish Network, her Wish Coordinator, ABC and the cast and crew of “Desperate Housewives” for making her dream come true.
