Foxworth, MS – A little boy with cystic fibrosis gets his dream game system with a little help from Kids Wish Network.
Everyone was there to enjoy the festivities as Kevin was presented with his brand new Xbox, accessories, games and gift cards, including members of the press, his family and even Spongebob Squarepants. He was definitely the star of this day.
For six-year-old Kevin, the diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis at 3 months old has brought him much suffering. This disease clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections, as well as obstructing the pancreas, which stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. There is no cure for CF, and lung transplantation is often necessary as the condition worsens. So far, little Kevin must suffer respiratory treatments twice a day every day, various daily medications and is constantly in and out of the doctor’s office.
While reading an article in her local newspaper about a child’s wish being granted through Kids Wish Network, Kevin’s mother, Trista, decided to give them a call and tell them about her brave little boy. It wasn’t long before Kevin had his very own Wish Coordinator, named Jill, who set out to make his dream of having his very own Xbox 360 come true.
For Jill, Dream Date Limo, the associates at Best Buy, Chick-fil-A, and the West Virginia National Guard, Kevin’s wish did not stop at a simple game system, games and accessories: Kevin’s wish included various gift cards to get the games and accessories of his choosing, Transformers toys and plenty of other goodies and surprises to keep him entertained for months to come!
At 11 a.m., a beautiful limo from Dream Date Limo arrived to pick him up for a trip to Best Buy for the presentation of his wish. Waiting for him were some representatives of the local media, plenty of smiling faces and even Spongebob Squarepants! Once he received all of his fantastic “gamer goodies,” Kevin could hardly control his excitement: “He was just running around the store,” said Trista of her little boy. “He really enjoyed himself and got a bunch of good games.”
When it was time for lunch, Kevin had yet another surprise waiting for him at the Chick-fil-A on US Highway 98: even more surprises, yet another gift card and a visit from the Chick-fil-A cow! Again, Kevin was giddy with glee!
According to his mother, so far, Kevin is just anxious to get home and play his favorite game, “Halo 2.” He was so ready to play with his new games and toys, Kevin began opening boxes in the car before he arrived home! At that rate, his mother said they’d have to repack everything in order to make it into the house!
Kevin’s wish was just what he wanted and then some, said Trista. “Jill was great” in organizing such a great wish and everyone couldn’t have done any better for her wonderful little boy.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Kevin’s wish extra special: Dream Date Limo, West Virginia National Guard, Best Buy of Hattiesburg and the Chick-fil-A on US Hwy. 98.
