Jody “Burns Up” a Storm with his New Computer

Dublin, Ga. – A little boy with cerebral palsy gets the computer of his dreams with a little help from Kids Wish Network.

After a few years of thoroughly enjoying the time he spent in the computer lab at his school, Jody yearned to have his own computer. When his mother, Kimberley, heard a local radio announcer talking about the children’s charity, Kids Wish Network, and the wishes they grant to kids with life-threatening illnesses, she hoped that they would be able to grant the wish of her wonderful little boy.

Jody had a stroke when he was born; at six months old he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and to maintain balance and posture. Jody must wear special shoes and he uses a walker for moving short distances and relies on a wheelchair for longer distances. Jody is developmentally delayed and the right side of his body is also affected.

After calling Kids Wish Network about her son, Kimberley was soon in contact with Wish Coordinator, Jill, who was more than pleased to grant Jody’s wish. In fact, Jill went above and beyond in organizing a spectacular wish for the little boy; she used her “Guardian Angel” magic and the assistance of some outstanding sponsors to plan an entire day around Jody and his wish, including a ride in a very fancy limousine and dinner at Sonny’s Real Pit-Bar-B-Q!

When a limousine donated by Alfred Pearson showed up to transport Jody and his family to pick up his computer, everyone knew that it was going to be a very special day for Jody. Once at Computer Solutions, Jody was given the VIP treatment and shown how to use his new computer by the staff; later on, they even sent someone to his house to help Jody’s family hook up the new machine and all of its accessories!

When it came to burning his first CD, something that he had been intrigued by for some time, he was simply ecstatic. “He’s had several people burn him CDs,” said Kimberley, and “he gets real excited” by the idea of burning CDs. She had to sit down and explain to him that he wouldn’t be seeing any fire or flames when it happened, but Jody was still thrilled, especially when Computer Solutions employee, Danny, handed him his very first burnt CD.

After receiving his brand new computer, Jody and his family were driven to Sonny’s Real Pit-Bar-B-Q where they were treated to an awesome dinner. Following that, they went to NetLine America to get free internet service for a whole year!

“Seeing him smile all night was wonderful,” said Kimberley. “He was just SO happy!” Now that he’s got his computer, Jody has been excited to learn all about his new machine and will soon be playing games to his heart’s content. “I just want everyone to know how wonderful Kids Wish Network is and how great Jill has been to us,” said Jody’s mom. Her little boy’s wish was granted and that’s more than they ever wanted.

Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Jody’s wish extra special: Computer Solutions of MG, Alfred Pearson and Thomas Sr., Sonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q and NetLine America.
