Crystal Lake, IL – Kids Wish Network sends a very special young man on the trip of his life to Walt Disney World in Florida.
Carlos is a sweet natured kid with a happy go lucky personality. He’s absolutely crazy about music and is happiest when he’s playing on his keyboard. Carlos also enjoys school and especially likes computer time. He’s a Disney buff and counts Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and 101 Dalmatians as his favorite Disney movies.
Carlos was born with Down syndrome. As with most kids with Down syndrome, he has struggled with a very serious heart condition. Carlos has had major heart surgery and must be monitored carefully. Because of the nature of his heart condition, he must be very careful physically and requires assistance with his mobility for distance.
When a representative from Kids Wish Network called Carlos’ mother, Margarita, she knew that they would be able to grant her son’s wish of going to Walt Disney World. Once referred, Carlos was given his very own Wish Coordinator, named Vanessa, who would work her own special “Guardian Angel” magic to organize a wish that Carlos and his family would never forget. With some help from Wish Funding Specialist, Donna, and some special sponsors, Vanessa put together a wonderful trip that included tickets to all of the fantastic Orlando theme parks, lodging at the famous Royal Plaza Hotel and a dinner at the awesome Pirates Dinner Adventure!
For Carlos, the best parts of his wish were the rides. According to his mother, “Carlos totally loved ALL the rides,” especially Goofy’s Barnstormer rollercoaster in ToonTown at the Magic Kingdom, which he got to ride three times in a row, much to his mother’s chagrin. Carlos and his family visited Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Epcot Center, as well as Universal Studios and WonderWorks. In fact, it was at WonderWorks where Carlos had the most fun: “We had to practically carry him out of there…he LOVED the Earthquake experience! He just kept pressing the button!”
Everywhere they went, Carlos and his family were given a royal treatment which included fantastic meals and no-questions-asked trips to the front of many lines. “We had great treatment,” said Carlos’ mom, Margarita. This included the treatment from Kids Wish Network, especially Carlos’ Wish Coordinator, Vanessa: “She was so very very nice! Thank you so much!”
Now that it’s all over, his mother presented him with a photo album filled with pictures from his wish trip. “Now we can look at the picture album together and reminisce.”
Carlos enjoyed a real dream come true and Kids Wish Network was only too happy to have given him such a fantastic vacation.
For making Carlos’ wish super special, Kids Wish Network would like to thank: Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater, Compassion Partners, Royal Plaza Hotel, WonderWorks, Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club.
