Victoria Enjoys an Adventure in Florida Courtesy of Kids Wish Network

Lodgepole, NE – 12-year-old Victoria of Lodgepole was born with spina bifida, a neural tube defect that occurs when the spinal column fails to close completely before birth. In addition, doctors discovered that she had hydrocephalus, otherwise known as “water on the brain”. Since her diagnoses, Victoria has undergone nearly 40 different medical procedures. She has been in and out of the hospital much of her young life.

Like most kids her age, Victoria has long dreamed of visiting Disney World. Recently, her wish came true thanks to Kids Wish Network, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Her mother, Dawn, was referred to the charity by a relative who had been contacted by one of the organization’s professional fundraising companies.

Once Victoria had been approved for a wish and assigned to her very own wish coordinator, she had to decide what her number one wish was. It wasn’t a difficult decision: Victoria wanted to go to Disney World in sunny Florida.

Her wish coordinator, Jill, and Kids Wish Network, took care of everything. Not only did Jill arrange for airfare to Orlando and theme park tickets, she also secured hotel accomodations and meals and sent the family spending money. Victoria was in for a trip she will never forget.

During her stay in Florida, Victoria had the time of her life. Each day she headed out early for rides and fun and to meet her favorite Disney characters in person. There was never a shortage of things to see and do.

Jessica had some other special activities planned for Victoria. She secured passes to Wonderworks, Orlando’s famous ‘upside down’ museum, and tickets to the Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater where patrons watch a live, interactive pirate show while dining.

Victoria enjoyed every moment of her trip and her family was thrilled to see how much she enjoyed herself. This special little girl learned that sometimes, dreams really do come true.

Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Victoria’s wish come true: Bennigan’s, Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, The Royal Plaza Hotel and Wonderworks.
