A Courageous Granada Hills Girl Cruises to the Bahamas Thanks to Kids Wish Network

Granada Hills, CA – 12-year-old Alexandra of Granada Hills has been through more in the last year than most people have in a lifetime, certainly more than many kids her age. She was diagnosed in June of 2007 with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system. Since her diagnosis, Alexandra has spent a great deal of time in the hospital and has undergone rigorous chemotherapy treatments. Her doctors must continue to monitor her condition very carefully.

Recently, Alexandra enjoyed a very special break away from her worries for a precious while thanks to her friends at Kids Wish Network, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Alexandra’s grandmother, Sue, referred her to the charity after receiving a phone call from one of Kids Wish Network’s professional fundraisers.

Once Alexandra was approved for a wish, her Kids Wish Network Wish Coordinator, Vanessa, asked her the big question: What was her number one wish? Alexandra didn’t hesitate – she wanted to go on a cruise.

Vanessa was more than happy to oblige. She arranged for Alexandra, her brother and her parents, Kathy and Philip, to fly from L.A. to Miami and secured tickets on Carnival Cruise Line’s Fascination. It was a whirlwind adventure and one Alexandra will certainly never forget.

The spectacular 3-day cruise aboard the Fascination ferried Alexandra and her family and all of its other eager passengers along the lush, palm-lined islands of the Gulf of Mexico. On board there was definitely no shortage of things to do, with games, shopping, shows, swimming and of course, eating, keeping everyone busy.

And then, there was the shore excursion at Nassau in the Bahamas. Alexandra and her family had a blast exploring the island and basking in the sun.

Kathy and Philip were incredibly grateful for everything that Vanessa and Kids Wish Network did for their brave daughter. Alexandra brought home from her special wish trip memories that she will treasure forever.

Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Alexandra’s wish extra special: AAA American Limousine, Alpha and Omega Auto Repair, Carnival Cruise Lines, the Hilton Airport Miami and Wal-Mart.
