Pioneertown, CA – 12-year-old Joshua of Pioneertown, CA was born with cerebral palsy. C.P. is a group of brain disorders that are most often characterized by seizures, spasticity and impaired mobility. Joshua is confined to a wheelchair and needs constant medical supervision. He also must endure frequent breathing treatments every day.
While Joshua’s condition prevents him from doing many of the same things as other kids his age, it certainly didn’t stop him from having the time of his life on his special wish trip to Disneyland. Joshua’s exciting adventure to Anaheim came courtesy of Kids Wish Network, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.
After completing Kids Wish Network’s application process, Joshua’s grandmother and guardian, Barbara, was thrilled to learn that her courageous grandson was eligible for a wish with the charity. There was no question of what Joshua wanted for his wish: he wanted to visit Disneyland!
Joshua’s Kids Wish Network Wish Coordinator, Jill, worked hard to make sure that Joshua’s wish experience would be one he will never forget.
Soon after arriving in Anaheim, Joshua and his family checked into the beautiful Doubletree Guest Suites where Jill had booked their accomodations. Then the group headed eagerly out to the wonderful world of Disney.
During the next couple of days, Joshua had a blast visiting Disneyland, riding rides and meeting some of his favorite characters in person. He was also treated like a local celebrity when he dined out at Captain Kidd’s Restaurant and Buca di Beppo.
Barbara said that more than anything though, Joshua enjoyed just being there with his family. “He loved being there more than he did the rides!”
Barbara said that the entire trip was incredibly special. “It was a wonderful experience for Joshua. The trip was perfect. We are grateful!”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Joshua’s wish extra special: Buca di Beppo, Captain Kidd’s Restaurant, Doubletree Anaheim, Disneyland, Elks of San Bernardino and Elks of Yucca Valley.
