Gardner, KS – 14-year-old Jeremiah of Gardner is crazy about the water. He’s also crazy about dolphins. So it was truly a dream come true for Jeremiah when he got his one wish to go swimming with dolphins in Florida. Jeremiah’s exciting adventure was courtesy of Kids Wish Network, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.
Jeremiah was born with tuberous sclerosis complex. TSC is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form on various organs, including in the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs. Jeremiah has a brain tumor and his doctors are working on a treatment to shrink it. He also suffers from seizures.
It was a bus aide on Jeremiah’s bus who told his mother, Georgia, about Kids Wish Network. Anxious to know if Jeremiah might qualify for a wish, Georgia began the charity’s application process. When the family received the news that Jeremiah had been approved, they were delighted. And Jeremiah was ecstatic to know that his wish to swim with dolphins was going to come true.
Jeremiah’s Kids Wish Network wish coordinator, Vanessa, quickly began working to make his wish an extra special one. She not only secured airline tickets to Miami for he and his family, she also booked hotel accommodations, arranged for fun activities in the area, and most importantly of course, arranged for a dolphin encounter. Before he knew it, Jeremiah was on a plane headed to Florida.
During his exciting stay in the Sunshine State, Jeremiah took full advantage of everything that Vanessa had planned for him. In addition to swimming with the dolphins, Jeremiah had a blast on the Key Largo Princess Glass Bottom Boat and enjoyed visiting the Jacobs Aquatic Center. He also took in different showed at the Theatre of the Sea
The highlight of course however, was his dip in the water with the dolphins. That was truly a spectacular day and one Jeremiah will never, ever forget.
Jeremiah’s wish trip was truly the adventure of a lifetime. For this special boy, it truly was a dream come true.
