A Brave Michigan Girl Gets Her Special Wish

Beaverton, MI – Four-year-old Amber of Beaverton, MI was born prematurely, one in a set of triplets. Unfortunately, one baby did not survive and Amber and her sister were extremely sick. As a result of complications with her birth, Amber developed lung disease and spent her first six months in the hospital. She develops chronic upper respiratory infections and must endure frequent breathing treatments.

When this brave little girl was asked for her number one wish through Kids Wish Network, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses, Amber knew just what she wanted: she wanted a swimming pool.

Amber’s mother, Jennifer, learned about Kids Wish Network after being referred to the charity by an aide at Amber’s school. The charity, which has been granting wishes to children across the country for over ten years, was more than happy to get involved in making Amber’s dream come true.

Kids Wish Network Wish Coordinator, Jill, got right to work. She quickly began making phone calls and soon found that there were a number of businesses in Amber’s community that were eager to get involved. Before she knew it, Amber’s pool was on its way!

The folks at Superior Pool Products, LLC donated the pool and Perfect Pools, Inc. installed it. Greaves Trucking, Inc. donated sand for the landscaping while Dorr Trucking donated the water. Midwest Fiberglass Pools of Utica, Van Dyke Pools/JK Toys and Wind, Surf and Sail all pitched in with fun pool toys and accessories.

Amber’s dad, Joseph, said it’s still a bit cold yet for Amber and her sister to use the pool, but he said they ask everyday. “They keep begging,” he laughed. He’s working on a few more things for the pool and then he’ll be able to put the solar cover on to warm it up. The girls, Joseph smiled, can’t wait!

Joseph said the family was incredibly grateful to Jill and Kids Wish Network. “We really appreciate everything everyone did for us!”

Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Amber’s wish come true: Dorr Trucking, Greaves Trucking, Inc., Midwest Fiberglass Pools of Utica, Perfect Pools, Inc., Superior Pool Products, LLC, Van Dyke Pools/JK Toys and Wind, Surf and Sail.
