Liberty ‘Tunes’ into Her Number One Wish Thanks to Kids Wish Network

Orange, TX – 16-year-old Liberty of Orange, TX is an incredibly bright and spirited teenager with a passion for animals. Liberty is especially fond of horses and hopes to one day become a vet. She also loves making pottery, painting and working on puzzles. While in many ways, Liberty is a typical teenager, there is something that makes her unique from her peers: Liberty has a life-threatening illness.

In the spring of 2007, Liberty was diagnosed with Synovial sarcoma. This condition is a very rare and extremely aggressive soft tissue cancer. Since her diagnosis, Liberty’s doctors have performed surgery to remove her bottom abdominal muscle as well as a tumor they found. They continue to monitor her carefully and Liberty must visit them frequently for CT scans, blood work and chest x-rays.

Recently, Liberty received something very special from Kids Wish Network, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Her family learned about the charity after being referred by a neighbor who had received a phone call from one of Kids Wish Network’s professional fundraisers.

When Liberty was asked by her Kids Wish Network wish coordinator, Jill, what she wanted for her wish, Liberty didn’t hesitate: she wanted her very own stereo system.

Jill jumped right into gear. Not only did she arrange for Liberty’s stereo system, she had even more in store for this special young girl.

After making some phone calls, Jill was able to garner the support of several local businesses that were eager to get involved. Best Buy donated the stereo as well as a store gift card, Southern Enterprises pitched in and donated a wall mount media shelf, Sony Electronics gave Liberty a digital camera and XM Radio donated three free months of XM radio. 19 Entertainment wanted to help as well and sent her some autographed CD’s, a t-shirt and other goodies.

The day of her wish, Liberty was picked up in style thanks to Executive Limousine, which sent a driver to ferry her to Best Buy to pick up her stereo. She later enjoyed a delicious lunch courtesy of Chili’s.

Liberty is having a blast with her special wish gifts. She is also thrilled to know that sometimes, dreams really do come true!

Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for making Liberty’s wish extra special: 19 Entertainment, Best Buy, Chili’s, Executive Limousine, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3743, Order of the Eastern Star – Orange Chapter, Sony Electronics, Inc., Southern Enterprises and XM Radio.
