Canton, IL – A special little girl with cerebral palsy wishes to go to Disney World and the Kids Wish Network takes her straight to Mickey’s door!
Six-year-old Kimberly is a true joy to be around! This special little girl is nuts about the show, “Veggie Tales,” and loves listening to the cartoon’s catchy tunes. Kimberly is also a huge Chuck Norris fan and never misses the chance to watch her favorite show, “Walker, Texas Ranger.” In her free time, she loves to go swimming.
Kimberly was born with cerebral palsy. This is a group of brain disorders that are characterized by seizures, spasticity and impaired mobility. She has suffered from severe seizures and is wheelchair dependent. Kimberley is also fed via a g-tube and attends frequent physical therapy sessions.
When Kimberley’s aunt was contacted by a Kids Wish Network professional fundraiser, she told the representative about her niece and got the wish process rolling.
After Kimberley’s wish coordinator, Vanessa, was told that the little girl wanted to go to Disney World, she didn’t stop there. Vanessa worked her “guardian angel” magic and organized a fabulous Orlando getaway complete with a stay in the luxurious Royal Plaza hotel as well as tickets to the Disney Parks and Sea World.
According to Kimberley’s mother, Mary, the vacation was so wonderful that “it was a time that I would never have dreamed of.” The highlights for Kimberley were rides that involved lights, music or bumps, so the rides at both Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Magic Kingdom were perfect for her: “She likes to spin and bump!” When she’s happy, Kimberley loves to giggle; according to her mother “she just giggled” the entire time.
The other special part of Kimberley’s wish that Vanessa made sure to include was to have Kimberley’s birthday coincide with her wish. While at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Kimberley was given a special “Birthday Button” to wear and during the parade, some of her favorite characters came over to greet her with warm birthday wishes, which made her giggle even more!
Though she can’t say it for herself, Kimberley had a wonderful time in Orlando. Her mother, Mary, says that they were “amazed at the generosity through Kids Wish Network. We’ve never had anything like this before.”
Kids Wish Network was more than happy to grant Kimberley’s wish and make her Disney dreams come true.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Kimberley’s wish extra special: Compassion Program, Bob Evans, Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater, The Royal Plaza Hotel, Tony Roma’s and Wonderworks.
