SHANNON- Sixteen-year-old Jonathan is like so many other teens. He loves movies, pizza and Playstation. And like a lot of young men who dream of being a sports icon, he absolutely loves basketball. But even with all of the similarities, there is something that sets him apart from his peers: Jonathan suffers with complex congenital heart disease.
With Jonathan’s condition worsening, he needed his own personal hoop dream – something that would help to take his mind off of his medical condition. So when Wish Coordinator Kara Stecker of Kids Wish Network was contacted about Jonathan by a professional fundraiser, she hit a three-pointer at the buzzer for him and made his wish of owning a computer a dream come true. Not only did Kids Wish Network give Jonathan a desktop computer, but he also received a printer, and Internet access for an entire year.
Jonathan may have to suffer with uncertainty and frequent visits to the doctor, but he can now spend his free time exploring the world-wide-web when he is at home and follow the stats of all his favorite hoop stars. Now, no matter what his energy level, Jonathan can have fun at the touch of button.
