OLDSMAR – During the grand opening of the Wal-Mart Supercenter, Kids Wish Network was named a charity of choice by the new establishment and presented with a check for $1,706.00 to help further the Oldsmar based charity’s mission of granting wishes for children with life threatening illnesses. Coincidentally, three years ago, the charity’s unique Guardian Angel Fund, wherein 100% of the proceeds go to fulfilling wishes, was started with a grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation.
Kids Wish Network also held a raffle at the store’s opening to help raise community awareness for their “wish kids.” As the first place prize, Addictive Water Sports, a Tampa based company, donated a ride on one of its speedboats. “It’s wonderful to see the people come together for a good cause at a time like this,” said Shelley Breiner, Kids Wish Network executive director. “It’s refreshing to have a big business not only bring in new jobs, but show community support as well. These two companies really helped bring smiles to some very deserving kids.”
