Kids Wish Network gives Armando world wide access

TAMPA-Armando wants to go back to work. While other teens worry about borrowing the car or going on a date, this special young man is concerned with helping his family and paying for his bills. Unfortunately, the bills that trouble him come from the hospital. Armando suffers from Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a form of cancer that requires radiation and chemotherapy. Rather than feel sorry for himself, he keeps asking when he can start working again and help with the hospital costs. After all, he came over to the United States three years ago with his father in order to earn money for his family back in Mexico; it is unthinkable to him that he is sick and cannot help. But being forced to quit work has not completely stopped Armando; he is pursuing his GED instead.

But with his stays in the hospital and the effects of the treatments, it can be difficult. So when Wish Coordinator Madeline Robinson of Kids Wish Network was contacted about this determined young man, she quickly jumped into action and made Armando’s wish of owning a computer a dream come true. Not only did Kids Wish Network give him a computer, he also received a printer and Internet access for an entire year. Armando likes to study and write, and his new computer makes everything much easier.

Armando wants to learn all the ins and outs of his new electric dream, and with the help of Juan Sanchez of the Gulf Coast Jaycees, he is well on his way. He loves having access to the World Wide Web and wants to use his computer to not only to further his education, but to also help his sister learn how to read and write in English.

He may have to suffer through painful treatments and frequent visits to the doctor, but Armando can now spend his time at home surfing the Internet. Now, no matter what is energy level, he can forget his problems with the click of a mouse, and continue with his education.
