MAYPORT – Nicole is a sweet 14-year-old who loves reading, collecting Beanie Babies and listening to her all-time favorite band NSYNC – she especially idolizes lead singer Justin Timberlake. But unlike most other girls her age, Nicole’s life is more complicated than teen crushes and what outfit to wear. Nicole has Crohn’s disease. Diagnosed at 6, she has since dealt with this painful and debilitating digestive disease that affects the stomach, intestines and the entire digestive tract. Because her system cannot tolerate most foods, her body does not maintain enough nutrients on its own. Despite her numerous hospitalizations and daily doses of medications, Nicole keeps a positive outlook on life and is always trying to help others. She is involved in various community programs and is an honor student, hoping to one day become a doctor and help kids like herself.
When Wish Coordinator Madeline Robinson of Kids Wish Network was contacted about this special teen, just like one of NSYNC’s songs, she thought, whatever you want Nicole, “You Got It!”
Nicole’s dream far surpassed anything she could have hoped for. Nicole and her family were whisked away in a luxurious chauffeured stretch limousine to the Alltel Stadium to see NSYNC’s Popodyssey tour. Nicole felt like a celebrity arriving at the concert in such grand style. “It was so cool,” said Nicole. “It was a really big limo!”
Nicole had no idea about the special surprise that was in store for her. Not only was she going to see her favorite guys perform in concert, but also she was invited backstage to meet them up close and personal. While Nicole was excited to meet and have her picture taken with all the guys of NSYNC, she was especially excited to meet Justin. “He looked even better in person!” said Nicole who greeted him with some of his favorite candy. Her Mom, Laura, said, “The smile on Nicole’s face was never ending. The guys of NSYNC are all very approachable – they’re such hams!”
After meeting the band, Nicole couldn’t believe that she was finally going to see them perform live. To make things even more thrilling, Nicole and her family were escorted to the second row to see the show from up close. She felt like the most special girl in the world – especially when Justin waved at her while singing a song on stage.
While Nicole will still have to deal with the burdens of Crohns Disease, her family will always have the happy memories they shared together when everything in Nicole’s life was so perfectly “NSYNC.”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank all of its gracious sponsors: Private Destinations LimoZine for providing complimentary limo service, Wright Entertainment for arranging the Meet and Greet and providing the family with outstanding concert tickets and NSYNC for helping to make Nicole’s wish a dream come true.
