CARO-At age 7, Kodey has so many things he likes that it’s hard to list them all. Playing with his 2 dogs, Chance and Digger, soccer and basketball, his swing set, and eating steak and corn are just a few. However, it’s safe to say that he absolutely loves anything Disney; from Winnie the Pooh, to watching the movie Dinosaur, or playing the computer version of the same movie, he just can’t get enough. He even lists his favorite color as orange because that’s the color of Tigger. But this 1st grader doesn’t have Tigger’s lively bounce. Kodey suffers from cystic fibrosis, a condition that forces him to use a feeding tube, suffer through breathing treatments, and wear a therapy vest that helps to dislodge the excess fluid and mucus that build up in his lungs.
So when Wish Coordinator Kara Stecker of Kids Wish Network learned about Kodey and his wish to go to Disney World, she hopped into action so that he could go to Winnie’s home and discover why “Tiggers are wonderful things.” Not only would Kodey and his family get to enjoy Disney and other exciting Orlando amusement parks, they would soon be sharing special moments at Give Kids the World in Orlando, Florida, a magical resort full of laughter, joy and hugs, catering to the unique needs of families who have children with life threatening illnesses.
While at Give Kids the World, Kodey and his family ate at the resort’s whimsical restaurants and took part in all the fun-filled activities offered to all of its special guests. When this sweet little boy found out he would get to stay at Give Kids the World for 6 days, he told Kara, “ Kids grow every single day and I am going to be so big when I get back that I won’t fit in my swing set!”
During their vacation, the family enjoyed a full Orlando experience, visiting Walt Disney World theme parks, Universal Studios and Sea World. All attractions were compliments of Give Kids the World and Kids Wish Network.
“My favorite part was the village at Give Kids the World, “ said Kodey. No matter what the future may bring to this little boy, he and his family can always look back to a magical place in their memories where dreams really do come true.
