Sarah, age 6, of Tampa, has many loves in this world. She loves dressing up in frilly dresses, anything pink, singing (some days she even sings all of her sentences), and most of all, her best friend, Lamby, a plush toy lamb that rarely leaves her side. While Sarah’s family tries to provide her with all the comforts and happiness the world has to offer, they cannot give her the one thing she needs most, good health. Sarah has leukemia.
When Wish Coordinator Terri McConn of Kids Wish Network heard about Sarah and her love for Disney, she speedily went to work on giving Sarah “The World.” Sarah and her family would soon be sharing special moments at Give Kids the World, in Orlando, a magical resort full of laughter, joy and hugs, catering to the unique needs of families who have children with life threatening illnesses. Also remembering about Sarah’s other big love, Terri sent her an extra special care package filled with a whole new wardrobe for her Lamby. Sarah screamed with delight when she saw the angel costume, complete with wings and a wand. She couldn’t have been happier, and her big wish was still to come!
While at Give Kids the World, Sarah and her family ate at the resort’s whimsical restaurants and took part in all the fun-filled activities offered to all of its special guests. “My favorite things were the whirlpool bathtub, the pool and the all night Ice Cream Palace,” said Sarah. One evening, Sarah’s parents were even given their own special “date night” at a lavish restaurant, while Sarah and her siblings spent time with their very own personal babysitter. Sarah said, “It was the best family vacation ever!”
Sarah and her family enjoyed a full Orlando experience, visiting Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World, and even enjoyed a night as royalty at Medieval Times dinner theater. All attractions were compliments of Give Kids the World and Kids Wish Network.
Dreams do come true. Her family will always remember the special wish they shared, when for an entire week, everything was absolutely perfect – in Sarah’s world.
