Morgan, age 5, of Little Rock, should have nothing to worry about except what toy to play with or what flavor of ice cream she’d like. But, her life is different. Although she is about to enter kindergarten, she already has learned more about life’s struggles than other children her age. Morgan has cystic fibrosis.
While Morgan does not understand the severity or lack of a cure for her disease, she does know how it feels to undergo four breathing treatments a day and the necessity of taking antibiotics and vitamins. It’s no wonder that nap time is her favorite event of the day.
When Kids Wish Network Coordinator Terri McConn was contacted about Morgan’s wish to meet all of her favorite Disney characters, Terri quickly went into action preparing to give Morgan “the World.” Morgan and her family would soon be sharing special moments at Give Kids the World in Orlando, Florida, a magical resort full of laughter, joy and hugs, catering to the unique needs of families who have children with life threatening illnesses.
While at Give Kids the World, Morgan and her family ate at the resort’s whimsical restaurants and took part in all the fun-filled activities offered to all of its special guests. During their vacation, Morgan and her family enjoyed a full Orlando experience, visiting Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World, and even enjoyed a night as royalty at Medieval Times dinner theater. All attractions were compliments of Give Kids the World and Kids Wish Network.
Tracey, Morgan’s Mom said, “The people at the parks were so nice, they took such good care not only of Morgan, but the entire family.” On their vacation, Tracey most appreciated having temporary relief from her rigorous caregiving regimen, while Morgan “liked the rides” at the parks, but enjoyed her stay at Give Kids the World the best. Morgan was especially thrilled to have her picture taken with actor John Stamos, who made a special guest appearance at the resort.
Dreams do come true. Her family will always remember the happy times they shared together, when for an entire week, everything was absolutely perfect – in Morgan’s world.
