OLDSMAR-Timothy, age 3, of Seminole, loves playing with his dog, Tiffany, his cat, Cathy, and watching the Backstreet Boys dance. But his absolute favorite thing of all is Buzz Lightyear, whether he’s playing with the toy or watching him in a movie. And though most little boys his age might dream of becoming an astronaut like their favorite character Buzz, Timothy will never be able to fulfill that dream. Unfortunately he suffers from Tracheal Stenosis, a disease that causes his trachea to narrow, cutting off his oxygen supply. He must use a nebulizer and an O2 saturation monitor just to sleep. But this 3-year-old has yet to learn his limitations.
So when Wish Coordinator Terri McConn of Kids Wish Network learned about Timothy and his wish to go to Disney MGM Studios and see ‘Bear in the Big Blue House’, Terri quickly went “to infinity and beyond” to make it happen for him. Not only would Timothy and his family get to enjoy MGM and other exciting Orlando amusement parks, they would soon be sharing special moments at Give Kids the World in Orlando, Florida, a magical resort full of laughter, joy and hugs, catering to the unique needs of families who have children with life threatening illnesses.
While at Give Kids the World, Timothy and his family ate at the resort’s whimsical restaurants and took part in all the fun-filled activities offered to all of its special guests. “ It was a lovely place. Everything was beautiful,” said Lori, Timothy’s mom. “I had a tear in my eye when we had to leave.”
During their vacation, the family enjoyed a full Orlando experience, visiting Walt Disney World theme parks, Universal Studios and Sea World. All attractions were compliments of Give Kids the World and Kids Wish Network.
While Timothy said the best part of his wish was “meeting Buzz,” his sister Courtney said it was just being with her brother. No matter what the future may bring to this little boy, he and his family can always look back to a magical place in their memories where dreams really do come true.
