Kids Wish Network gives Courtney ‘The World’

HOLLANDALE – Courtney, a 13-year old boy from Hollandale, Mississippi, enjoys watching Nickelodeon on TV, baseball and spending time with his dog, Roxy. To look at Courtney, you’d think he was like any other boy his age. But looks can be deceiving, Courtney has a Dandy Walker cyst on his brain.

In need of a special dose of happiness, Wish Coordinator Terri McConn of Kids Wish Network was contacted about this special boy and his wish to go to Disney World. Terri quickly went to work on creating a wish that she knew Courtney would absolutely love. Terri would soon be sending Courtney and his family on a vacation to Florida to experience the fun of its many amusement parks, and to share special moments at Give Kids the World in Kissimmee, a magical resort full of laughter, joy and hugs, catering to the unique needs of families who have children with life threatening illnesses.

Once at Give Kids the World, Courtney and his family ate at the resort’s whimsical restaurants and took part in all the fun-filled activities offered to all of its special guests. Courtney’s Mom, Barbara said, “We were overwhelmed by how beautiful everything was. The best part was spending time together as a family – everyone was so happy.” Courtney most enjoyed Amberville Station, an interactive train station for kids. “I loved playing with all the electric trains,” said Courtney. “ I also liked Mayor Clayton, the village’s rabbit mascot, he gave me lots of presents!“

During their vacation, the family enjoyed a full Orlando experience, visiting Walt Disney World theme parks, Universal Studios and Sea World. All attractions were compliments of Kids Wish Network and Give Kids the World. American Airlines provided roundtrip airfare for Courtney and his entire family.

While Courtney will still face the uncertain challenges of his illness, Courtney and his family will always cherish the wish they shared together, when everything was absolutely perfect – in “Courtney’s World.”
