Niesa, age 16, is very much looking forward to her upcoming birthday. It’s not just the presents she’ll be getting, or the special birthday plans she has for the day. Unlike most teens her age, Niesa doesn’t take a single day for granted. Niesa has brain cancer with spine metastasis.
Even though Niesa is confined to a wheelchair, must carry a portable oxygen unit and requires a nurse’s constant care, she keeps a positive outlook on life. Niesa loves Math, basketball and most of all, laughing – especially when watching her favorite comedic actors Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence.
When wish coordinator Terri McConn of Kids Wish Network was contacted about Niesa and her dream of having her very own computer, Terri quickly went shopping. For Niesa, the computer is a very special gift. Since she cannot travel and experience much of the world around her, the computer will bring the world to Niesa.
Kids Wish Network purchased a Gateway computer just in time for a surprise birthday party that Niesa’s mother is planning on October 7. To make the birthday girl feel extra special, they also will be giving her a package filled with nail polishes, scented lotions, a T-shirt, teddy bear and a camera.
It will be a memorable birthday full of love, laughter and many surprises. But, most of all, it will be the day that Niesa and her family realize that wishes really do come true.
